ATTENTION: Please read the following chapter carefully before starting the procedure described below.
It is recommended to use a USB stick with a storage capacity of 16 to 32 GB. In addition, the USB medium should be high-quality to avoid errors and frustration.
Then the USB stick must be formatted using FAT32. Modern motherboard manufacturers also support NTFS, but FAT32 is recommended. Formatting can be done in quick mode. Even though new USB sticks usually already have a FAT32 format, reformatting is advised.
Extract the entire zip file into a folder on your computer. Avoid unpacking directly onto a USB storage medium. If you are using a UNIX-capable operating system, make sure that the .disk folder is also copied.
After extraction, the entire contents of the folder are copied to the USB medium. It should be noted that after completion of copying, not all data has usually been copied to the medium yet. Therefore, always use the "Safely Remove Medium" method to avoid data loss.
Insert the USB stick into a USB port on the server. If possible, choose the fastest port. After insertion, the server can be started. Now during the boot process, press the BBS key. This differs depending on the manufacturer. Usually, it is F2, F7, F8, F11, F12 or ESC. Then the BBS menu should appear. Select the USB medium for UEFI mode. Sometimes the manufacturer's name of the medium also appears. Confirm the selection with the Enter key and wait until the setup has started. The boot process can take several minutes.
Note: On older devices, it may happen that the medium cannot be started and the screen remains black.
