IPMI-Server

The IPMI Server or Intelligent Platform Management Interface can be used to monitor a server externally.

Note: This feature is not supported by all servers. See the chapter Hardware. In addition, a License is required to activate the interface.

Security

When setting up the system, note that access to a sensitive infrastructure can be gained. Therefore, the access should be secured accordingly.

Configuration

The configuration is initially done via the settings in Antcas Control under Infrastructure Network. After that, the remaining settings can be made via the IPMI web interface.

Notes: Not all settings on the configuration page can be set by IPMI. For example, disabling the user with ID 2 or configuring a different type of server than Shared. If the license becomes invalid, the IP settings will be lost.

Access

Access to the IPMI is done via the HTTP or HTTPS protocol using standard ports, unless configured otherwise. The interface behaves like a standalone hardware and is only available in an Ethernet adapter. By default, "Shared" with eth0 is used. The cable must have been inserted accordingly.

The IPMI is also available when the server has not been started. Possibly, the server needs to be booted first so that the IPMI is available.
