Antcas Voyager is a virtual or hardware-independent version of Antcas Control. The version runs on almost all devices, provided they meet the minimum requirements. Licensing is done per CPU thread per year for the base version.
ATTENTION: Read this page thoroughly before starting setup. Otherwise, it may happen that the installation does not work properly.
The minimum requirements are purely a recommendation. Since it is an efficient Linux operating system, the system will also work with lower requirements. Note that there should always be sufficient storage space available for backups and updates. Otherwise, unwanted failures can occur. All requirements for the virtual machine may vary depending on project size and performance requirements. It is important that the write speed of the data carrier is fast enough for many data loggers. Otherwise, log data may be discarded.
Note: The first network interface is used for licensing. If the same image is used on another platform, the license will become invalid.
Various virtual machines can be used. However, the settings mentioned above are mandatory. The hard disk controller should be set to a stable controller. Experience has shown that it makes sense to set the controller the same as that of the host.
The use of dynamic RAM is not recommended. The database automatically reserves a certain memory area to improve efficiency.
With the software Antcas Server Setup, the partition can be increased at any time. After booting, open a new terminal and enter the following command:
antcas-setup resize
Then follow the instructions of the assistant. Possibly no further steps need to be taken.
Note: When using Core 3, the hard disk can be increased in size during setup.
If the RAM is changed, the configuration of the swap file will be adjusted after rebooting.
Each server also has hardware activation. If the hardware is changed or a snapshot of a virtual machine is reset, it may happen that despite an active and valid license, this will no longer work after 90 days. The activation must then be renewed manually. However, this can only be done every 30 days and a maximum of 4 times per year.
